Green pool water
Result
Established algae — a full shock, and 24 to 48 hours
High confidence — the answers you gave point clearly at this one cause.
A blurred floor means the algae is through the whole body of water. The dose is double the light case, and the water will turn cloudy grey before it turns clear — which is a good sign, not a setback.
What to do
- 1
Brush the entire pool — corners, steps and around the underwater light included.
- 2
Bring pH to 7.2–7.6 first, then dose.
- 3
Add about 2 litres of 10% liquid chlorine per 10 m³, or 300 g of 70% granular per 10 m³ — about 9 litres or 1.4 kg for a 45 m³ pool, at dusk.
- 4
Dissolve granular chlorine in a bucket first, and keep the pump running while you add it so it disperses.
- 5
Run the pump continuously for 24 hours — override the timer.
- 6
The next day it will be cloudy grey. Vacuum to WASTE, top the level back to mid-skimmer, then backwash the filter.
- 7
If it is still green after 48 hours, do not throw a third dose at it — call us. At that point something else is in the way, and guessing costs more than a proper test.
