SERVICE AND WARRANTY

What the warranty covers

Cover falls into three groups with different terms — structure, surface and powered equipment — so read your own contract first and call us to confirm before you claim.

Warranty periods are not the same on every pool — they depend on the model, the year it was installed and the contract that was actually signed — so we do not print a number of years on this page, because a generic figure that does not match your contract only misleads. What we can say plainly is that cover splits into three groups, each for its own reasons.

The three groups

  • Structure — the walls, the load-bearing structure and the installation itself. This is the longest cover, for defects in materials and workmanship, but not for ground movement caused by later building work nearby.

  • Surface — liner, tile and gelcoat. This covers manufacturing and installation defects such as a seam opening, but not tears from sharp objects or a pet's claws, and not degradation from water chemistry left out of range for a long period.

  • Powered equipment — pumps, filters, salt systems, heat pumps, robots and cover systems. These follow each manufacturer's own warranty, usually shorter than the structural cover, and several of them require a record of scheduled maintenance before a claim is accepted.

What is generally not covered

  • Damage from draining the pool yourself — on a liner pool that is immediate and irreversible.

  • Damage from sustained chemical imbalance — a low pH that embrittles the liner, or salt run too high and corroding metalwork.

  • Surge, brownout or lightning damage where the specified protection was not fitted.

  • Flood, storm and subsidence.

  • Anything an outside contractor has repaired, modified or dismantled before telling us.

How to make a claim

  1. Find your contract or handover document and look at the completion date and the warranty clause. If you cannot find it, skip to step 3.

  2. Photograph the damage on the day you find it — a wide shot for position, a close-up for detail.

  3. Do not put it off. Pictures taken on day one carry far more weight than ones taken a month later.

  4. Call 095 902 6555 or message @jdpools with the address, the name it was bought under, and the photos.

  5. Wait for us to pull up the installation record and the terms that apply to your pool, and confirm whether it qualifies before anyone is sent.

  6. Do not repair it yourself or let another contractor at it until we have confirmed, however small the job looks.
