Early-stage algae — one night should clear it
High confidence — the answers you gave point clearly at this one cause.
A faint tint with the floor still visible means the algae has only just established. The dose needed is modest, and most pools are clear again within 24 hours.
What to do
- 1
Brush the walls and floor before you dose. Algae still attached to a surface barely meets the chlorine at all.
- 2
Get pH to 7.2–7.6 before you dose. Above about 7.8 chlorine does well under half the work it should.
- 3
Add about 1 litre of 10% liquid chlorine per 10 m³, or 150 g of 70% granular per 10 m³ — roughly 4.5 litres or 700 g for a 45 m³ pool. At dusk.
- 4
Run the pump right through the night — twelve hours minimum.
- 5
Nobody swims until free chlorine is back down to 1–3 ppm and pH sits at 7.2–7.6.
- 6
Then go back to 8–10 hours of filtration a day, which is the right number for water at Thai temperatures.
