Do not guess with electricity — leave it isolated and send us this link
This one is a technician's job
We cannot call it from here — we have narrowed it to a short list, but it takes a measurement or a look at the real thing to know.
You said you were not sure. In this flow that is the most accurate answer available: every remaining branch rests on something you actually saw or heard, and a guess produces a confident diagnosis of symptoms that may never have happened — followed by instructions to put a hand on something that is still live. Until somebody has looked at it, treat the equipment as live and not yet safe.
We stop here because the next step needs an instrument, or carries a risk not worth taking on. Handing this to a technician is the correct answer to these symptoms — not a cop-out.
What to do
- 1
Leave the pump circuit switched off at the consumer unit, if it is dry and safely reachable. If it is not, leave it alone and keep people away instead.
- 2
Do not keep switching it on to see what happens. Retrying a fault nobody has identified is the commonest way a pump motor is finally destroyed.
- 3
If anyone has felt a shock in or near the pool, that is a medical emergency: call 1669 now — free, 24 hours — and nobody swims until an electrician has checked it.
- 4
Send us this page's link on LINE, with a photo of the plant area and one of the consumer unit. The link tells us both what you answered and where you stopped, and we pick the questions up from there.

Send us this position on LINEThe link tells us every answer you have given, so nothing has to be repeated.
