The pump will not start
Two to five questions, then a clear answer: what this fault is, and whether it is a job for you or for a technician. Every question says, above it, whether the power must be off or must stay on while you answer it — read that line before you act.
Question 1
Before anything else: stand about a metre back from the pump and its control box, and look. Do you see any of these?
Do not touch anything yet, and do not flip any switch. This question uses your eyes and your nose only. The two answers under “Stop now” below — a burning smell at the control box, and water where the electrics are — both end here. There are no further questions after either of them.
Stop now
If you can see any of these, stop where you are: do not touch the equipment and do not flip any switch. Tapping one of them ends the questions immediately and tells you how to cut the power.
